Trying out the latest version (1.6) of the Procreate painting app. They've done an amazing job with it, and I can't wait to try out the supported pressure sensitive stylus when it becomes available later in the year.

If you have an iPad and you want to try painting with it, I'd definitely recommend checking Procreate out. I've tried a lot of painting apps, and this one definitely wins in speed and features.

There is some fantastic character design going on here. Her eyes and lips are great and I love the shading you've done to define her nose as well. How do you think Procreate on the iPad compares to drawing on a Cintiq? I can't really afford a Cintiq right now, but I CAN afford an iPad and corresponding digital art apps + stylus. How do you feel it compares to the Intuos5 as well?

Thanks! Procreate on the iPad is great, especially with a decent pressure sensitive stylus like the Pogo Connect, but I wouldn't compare it to something like a Cintiq. Things aren't as accurate when drawing on the iPad, and everything takes longer because you don't have as much control. It's fun, but it's definitely a different experience. If you're looking for a cheaper Cintiq option, there's always the Yiynova 19" tablet monitor, they seem to be getting positive reviews from what I've seen so far, and they're a fraction of the price. Man....that's awesome shading you done there. I can't comprehand how awesome it looks. And you did this on a iPad? Wow....That kind of stuff is one of the main reasons I want a iPad. Too bad the thing cost too much..."just like all the other Apple products..."
